International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA)
ISCA is a democratic, non-governmental and not-for-profit umbrella association with 103 European member organisations and 240 member organisations worldwide. It was established in 1995 and has experienced sustained growth in membership and in turnover to a level of 2 million euro annually. ISCA has 15 staff members from 10 countries.
ISCA is Moving People! Our mission is to empower organisations world-wide to enable citizens to enjoy their Human Right to MOVE.
With a vision of “A world of physically active citizens in vibrant civil societies”, ISCA is at the forefront of development and implementation of activities of specific European relevance, for example:
• ISCA is currently leading three Erasmus+ Sport Collaborative Partnerships (ActiveVoice, Grassroots Sport Diplomacy and MOVEment Spaces), and we are a partner or associate partner in another 6 Erasmus+ Sport Collaborative Partnerships.
• ISCA has implemented 4 Erasmus+ Sport Events such as MOVE Week, Flash MOVE and NowWeBike and we are co-leader of the European School Sport Day®.
• ISCA is the designated National Coordinating Body for the European Week of Sport in Denmark since 2016.
All of ISCA’s activities aim to promote innovative approaches and strengthen the capacity of grassroots sport in Europe. The NowWeMOVE campaign is a prime example of ISCA’s ongoing efforts in this field: In 2012, ISCA established and announced the NowWeMOVE campaign building on the cross-sector vision of getting 100 million more Europeans active by 2020. The take-up of the campaign among event organisers from very different sectors has been tremendous, with over 14,000 events being organised in 38 European countries over its first six years which have attracted more than 3.4 million people in total to join in and get physically active: www.nowwemove.com.
